Someone Who Understands

A store owner was tacking a sign above his door that read: "Puppies For Sale". Signs like that have a way of attracting small children and sure enough, a little boy appeared under the store owner's sign.

"How much are you going to sell the puppies for?" he asked.

The store owner replied, "Anywhere from $30 to $50."

The little boy reached in his pocket and pulled out some change.

"I have $2.37," he said. "Can I please look at them?"

The store owner smiled and whistled and out of the kennel came Lady, who ran out in the aisle of his store followed by five teeny, tiny balls of fur. One puppy was lagging considerably behind.

Immediately the little boy singled out the lagging, limping puppy and said, "What's wrong with that little dog?"

The store owner explained that the veterinarian had examined the little puppy and had discovered it didn't have a hip socket. It would always be lame.

The little boy became excited. "That is the puppy that I want to buy."

The store owner said, "No, you don't want to buy that little dog. If you really want him, I'll just give him to you."

The little boy got quite upset. He looked straight into the store owner's eyes, pointing his finger, and said, "I don't want you to give him to me. That little dog is worth every bit as much as all the other dogs and I'll pay full price. In fact, I'll give you $2.37 now, and 50 cents a month until I have him paid for."

The store owner countered, "You really don't want to buy this little dog. He is never going to be able to run and jump and play with you like the other puppies."

To his surprise, the little boy reached down and rolled up his pant leg to reveal a badly twisted, crippled left leg supported by a big metal brace. He looked up at the store owner and softly replied, "Well, I don't run so well myself, and the little puppy will need someone who understands."

Don't we all need someone who understands?

A man hated his wife's cat and he decided to get rid of it. He drove

20 blocks away from home and dropped the cat there. The cat was

already walking up the driveway when he approached his home.

The next day, he decided to drop the cat 40 blocks away but the same

thing happened. He kept increasing the number of blocks but the cat

kept coming home before him.

At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left,

past the bridge, then right again and another right and so on until he

reached what he thought was a perfect spot and dropped the cat there.

An hour later.... The man calls his wife at home and asked her, "Jen

is the cat there?" "Yes, why do you ask?" answered the wife.

Frustrated the man said," Put that damn cat on the phone, I am lost

and I need directions to reach home!!!

Moral:

" How much ever we dislike somebody, someday we will need their

assistance. So never worry how many people dislike you... "

20 things we MAY not know about Windows XP

1. It boasts how long it can stay up. Whereas previous versions of Windows were coy about how long they went between boots, XP is positively proud of its stamina. Go to the Command Prompt in the Accessories menu from the All Programs start button option, and then type 'systeminfo' . The computer will produce a lot of useful info, including the uptime. If you want to keep these, type 'systeminfo > info.txt'. This creates a file called info.txt you can look at later with Notepad. (Professional Edition only).

2. You can delete files immediately, without having them move to the Recycle Bin first. Go to the Start menu, select Run... and type 'gpedit.msc' ; then select User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer and find the Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin setting. Set it. Poking around in gpedit will reveal a great many interface and system options, but take care -- some may stop your computer behaving as you wish. (Professional Edition only).

3. You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click, and enter 'rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWork Station' in the location field. Give the shortcut a name you like. That's it -- just double click on it and your computer will be locked. And if that's not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

4. XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows Messenger, but you can tickle it and make it disgorge everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/ sysoc.inf, search for the word 'hide' and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

5. For those skilled in the art of DOS batch files, XP has a number of interesting new commands. These include 'eventcreate' and 'eventtriggers' for creating and watching system events, 'typeperf' for monitoring performance of various subsystems, and 'schtasks' for handling scheduled tasks. As usual, typing the command name followed by /? will give a list of options -- they're all far too baroque to go into here.

6. XP has IP version 6 support -- the next generation of IP. Unfortunately this is more than your ISP has, so you can only experiment with this on your LAN. Type 'ipv6 install' into Run... (it's OK, it won't ruin your existing network setup) and then 'ipv6 /?' at the command line to find out more. If you don't know what IPv6 is, don't worry and don't bother.

7. You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line by using 'taskkill /pid' and the task number, or just 'tskill' and the process number. Find that out by typing 'tasklist', which will also tell you a lot about what's going on in your system.

8. XP will treat Zip files like folders, which is nice if you've got a fast machine. On slower machines, you can make XP leave zip files well alone by typing 'regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll' at the command line.. If you change your mind later, you can put things back as they were by typing 'regsvr32 zipfldr.dll' .

9. XP has ClearType -- Microsoft's anti-aliasing font display technology -- but doesn't have it enabled by default. It's well worth trying, especially if you were there for DOS and all those years of staring at a screen have given you the eyes of an astigmatic bat. To enable ClearType, right click on the desktop, select Properties, Appearance, Effects, select ClearType from the second drop-down menu and enable the selection. Expect best results on laptop displays. If you want to use ClearType on the Welcome login screen as well, set the registry entry HKEY_USERS/. DEFAULT/Control Panel/Desktop/ FontSmoothingTyp e to 2.

10. You can use Remote Assistance to help a friend who's using network address translation (NAT) on a home network, but not automatically. Get your pal to email you a Remote Assistance invitation and edit the file. Under the RCTICKET attribute will be a NAT IP address, like 192..168.1.10. Replace this with your chum's real IP address -- they can find this out by going to www.whatismyip. com -- and get them to make sure that they've got port 3389 open on their firewall and forwarded to the errant computer.

11. You can run a program as a different user without logging out and back in again. Right click the icon, select Run As... and enter the user name and password you want to use. This only applies for that run. The trick is particularly useful if you need to have administrative permissions to install a program, which many require. Note that you can have some fun by running programs multiple times on the same system as different users, but this can have unforeseen effects.

12. Windows XP can be very insistent about you checking for auto updates, registering a Passport, using Windows Messenger and so on. After a while, the nagging goes away, but if you feel you might slip the bonds of sanity before that point, run Regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_ USER/Software/ Microsoft/ Windows/Current Version/Explorer/ Advanced and create a DWORD value called EnableBalloonTips with a value of 0.

13. You can start up without needing to enter a user name or password. Select Run... from the start menu and type 'control userpasswords2' , which will open the user accounts application. On the Users tab, clear the box for Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer, and click on OK. An Automatically Log On dialog box will appear; enter the user name and password for the account you want to use.

14. Internet Explorer 6 will automatically delete temporary files, but only if you tell it to. Start the browser, select Tools / Internet Options... and Advanced, go down to the Security area and check the box to Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.

15. XP comes with a free Network Activity Light, just in case you can't see the LEDs twinkle on your network card. Right click on My Network Places on the desktop, then select Properties. Right click on the description for your LAN or dial-up connection, select Properties, then check the Show icon in notification area when connected box. You'll now see a tiny network icon on the right of your task bar that glimmers nicely during network traffic.

16. The Start Menu can be leisurely when it decides to appear, but you can speed things along by changing the registry entry HKEY_CURRENT_ USER/Control Panel/Desktop/ MenuShowDelay from the default 400 to something a little snappier. Like 0.

17. You can rename loads of files at once in Windows Explorer. Highlight a set of files in a window, then right click on one and rename it. All the other files will be renamed to that name, with individual numbers in brackets to distinguish them. Also, in a folder you can arrange icons in alphabetised groups by View, Arrange Icon By... Show In Groups.

18. Windows Media Player will display the cover art for albums as it plays the tracks -- if it found the picture on the Internet when you copied the tracks from the CD. If it didn't, or if you have lots of pre-WMP music files, you can put your own copy of the cover art in the same directory as the tracks. Just call it folder.jpg and Windows Media Player will pick it up and display it.

19. Windows key + Break brings up the System Properties dialogue box; Windows key + D brings up the desktop; Windows key + Tab moves through the taskbar buttons.

20. The next release of Windows XP, codenamed Longhorn, is due and won't be much to write home about. The next big release is codenamed Blackcomb.

Some Tips To Help Develop Your Connection Between Mind And Heart

1. Be yourself
If I make a comment to someone - even though it was kindly and sincerely meant - and they get upset or take offense, is their upset my responsibility?
The answer is no.
You can genuinely love someone whilst nevertheless doing something they don't like or agree with.
You do it because you feel it is the right thing to do, though you still understand and have empathy for their different viewpoint (which causes their emotional reaction) which they have created by their own choices and belief system.
If one only did things others can easily accept then the status quo would never progress.
That would truly be a trap.
The solution here is better communication, leading to increased understanding of each other's viewpoint, and therefore acceptance of the differing personal realities.
There is a strong imprint in our culture to feel sad, guilty, etc. for painful emotions our actions may cause to others.
There's a general misconception that you are your emotions.
"I am angry" and "you make me angry".
This is conditioning not truth.
In terms of cause and effect, it's a viewpoint at effect.
Some say that to be happy, only do what others can easily experience - it's the same lie.
And if it isn't then you'd better re-think whether you are indeed doing the right thing.
It is one definition of a 'wrong' action: that which you would not like another to do to you.
You are responsible for your choices, decisions and actions.
For being true to your judgment.
For communicating with honesty and integrity, developing and maintaining an open mind, and promoting understanding and empathy.
For never compromising your freedoms and rights nor trampling on another's.
For always acting from the primary motivation of love.
That's all and quite enough.
Others are responsible, in the same way, for their own beliefs, interpretations, feelings, responses, and reactions; that's their right and their life - none of our business.

2. Decide what you want
Think of five things that are really important to you: they might include a nice house, loving supportive partner, the chance to travel, a good job, and so on.
Now look at your current life and see how it matches up.
These questions can help you pinpoint problem areas:

* What are you doing that you do indeed want to do?
* What are you doing that you don't want to be doing?
* What are you not doing that you do actually want to do?

In the light of this information, clarify your goals.

Be specific - before you can plan how to achieve a goal it needs to be stated in a way that is realistic, measurable and time-targeted.

Your action plan should be broken down into manageable chunks - the steps you know you can make that, one by one, will take you to where you want to go.
I believe that we do create our reality, the 'game of life' on this planet - everything has to be achieved through action, i.e. there is distance between cause and effect.
In practice this means we do best to 'manifest' spiritually (perceive our goal as already achieved and be grateful and 'allowing' for that) at the same time as we put our goals into directed action, so there is congruence between these two aspects of our being.
Also we need to make sure that our beliefs (at every level of the mind - conscious and subconscious) match up to our goals and our desires.
Mind, body and spirit working in harmony.
My work is all about encouraging individuals to discover the truth within themselves - their own inner knowing that is gradually exposed by their own increasing awareness, responsibility and acceptance.
When all distortions and filters are cleared, those subjective realities start to coincide with an objective reality, albeit on a wider dimensional basis than the 3-D world of materiality that scientific rationalism is normally limited to.

3. Don't worry
The shadow of love is fear.
To understand one's fears and anxieties better I have found it workable to determine what need corresponds to the fear, as fear and need tend to go together: they're opposite flows, like the fear of not obtaining one's needs, whether for survival, comfort, belonging, rightness, esteem, success, realization, and so on.
When you've identified the corresponding need, it's easier to see if that need makes sense.
Of course, you are worried if your child has got lost and you do all you can to resolve that situation.
But more often worry is a result of not wanting to own up to what you have done, or trying to predict and control other people's feelings, and especially trying to please another rather than just being content at having done what you feel is the right thing.
Unpredicted obstacles may occur so it is important to stay flexible and to think laterally.
The future isn't always predictable; instead of worrying about what the future holds, we need to learn to let go and trust in the Universe to reflect our intentions.
We cannot do better than our best.
We need to be open to new ideas and listen to our intuition to direct us to new solutions.
Life is a game - think of it like that and don't take anything too seriously.
Enjoy the challenges life offers!

4. Take control
Instead of feeling overwhelmed by a task, break it down into small segments that you know you can do and start on the first one.
If you have lots of incomplete jobs, list them in order of priority and tackle the most important job first.
This way you have a sense of achievement at each step - and you'll soon find yourself getting a whole lot more accomplished.
Production equals morale.
And if you're living or working in a mess, sort it out - a disordered environment is reflected in your mind.

5. What makes you happy?
Write down a list of things that make you excited, however big, small, likely or unlikely.
Then work to make them occur more often in your life.
And appreciate the good things you take for granted - your child's hug or a good book.
Look for moments of joy and savour them.
Recognize how many happen every day.
Feeling good can be a way of life, not just an occasional accident.

6. Smile!
Smiling triggers happy feelings in the brain and reduces stress.
Even if you don't feel happy or confident, just behave as though you do and soon you will.
Find the joy in your life and you'll be more attractive and nicer to be around, people will be nicer to you too - and you'll smile some more!
Joy is infectious but so is misery; therefore don't have anything whatever to do with people who dampen your spirits, invalidate your achievements or tell you what to think.

7. Get positive
Write down every negative thought you have over the course of a week, whether it's "My family don't appreciate me" or "I look dreadful."
Negativity is a habit and we often don't realize we're putting ourselves down.
Under each negative thought you've written, see if you can spot an alternative way of looking at it, that isn't so negative.
See if you've exaggerated the situation or overly generalized, or if you are being unnecessarily intolerant or perfectionist, or thinking in terms of pleasing others rather than yourself - the 'shoulds' and 'ought-tos'.
The objective world, our playing field of life, is dialectic by the nature of a game, full of beauty and ugliness, good and evil. But the subjective truth of things, the bird's-eye viewpoint, is ultimately always positive, causative and loving - as that is your essential nature.

8. Assert your rights
Think of things which you have a right to, e.g. "I have a right to an evening out with my friends from time to time."
Think of rights that every human being should have, such as, "I have the right not to be bullied."
Now, protect your rights with your life, and watch your integrity and self-esteem grow.

9. Give yourself some time
Be sure to put aside a little time every day for yourself - relax with a book, in the bath or sitting in the garden with the sun on your face.
Think of some things that make you happy - worrying solves nothing.
And at night time, go to bed early enough that you get enough sleep to feel your best the next day.

10. Communicate
If you have a problem, the thing to do is to communicate: find out the information you need to get the full picture, so that the solution becomes apparent.
If you're upset, you need to communicate and say how you feel.
If you've done something wrong, again you need to communicate this.
Spot where you're backing off from what you need to do or say, and as the saying goes, "feel the fear and do it anyway".
You'll be glad you did!

11. Nurture your relationships
Communication, understanding and empathy are the component parts of relationship, they're equally important.
Take time and trouble over your friends and your partner.
Listen and understand their opinions.
Value a different point of view equally as your own.
Don't make being right more important than a friendship.
People with a few close friends are more likely to be happy than those with many mere acquaintances.

12. Don't get put in a bag
Don't allow others to label or stereotype you - and don't do it to yourself either!
You may have some particular qualities, or have some sort of difficulty, but don't let that define you.
There's much more to your life than your race or gender, your sexuality, your psychological or medical problems, your political views, or any other such particulars.
Personal growth is all about finally jumping out of the box that you're hiding away in - you don't need any more limiting boxes to be stuck over your head!

13. Be creative
Making something come to life that you have envisioned - whether a painting, a wonderful meal, a dress, an invention, a business plan - is infinitely satisfying.
And you'll feel pleasure every time you think of it.
If you want to be happy, get active - at work, within the family and the community.
You will feel happier when you're participating in an activity, whether it's just playing with a child or helping organize a worthwhile event.
Self-esteem comes from demonstrated competence.
Everyone has skills but not everyone uses them.
So use your skills - find out what you're good at and do it.
Joy is often about living in the moment, being absorbed in what you're doing, not brooding on the past or guessing your future.
Decide what YOU really want and then go for it.
It can take courage but it's worth the risk.

14. Be Mindful
We need to be very much in touch with our heart, with our feelings, but still to remain intelligent about it - to remain in control, not driven by our emotions.
We need a balance of left and right brain - rational mind and emotional mind, logic and feelings, intellect and intuition.
This is where mindfulness and wisdom is found.
We tend to be too cut off from our feelings, in order to suppress painful ones - and this becomes a habit.
Academic education reinforces this imbalance.
And then we lose a lot of our creative and intuitional ability.
At the same time, however, when those emotions 'escape' we tend to be driven by them, and think and act impulsively.

SCIENTIFIC ANALYSIS OF "MANTRA"

The scientific analysis of a Mantra is given below, as to how it attracts power when chanted by someone.

Everything has a particular vibratory frequency. Every thought, every word and every emotion. How we feel, think and speak defines our particular vibration. And we create our world based upon that vibration. Sound is an incredibly powerful vibration.

“Man” means mind, “tra” means wave or projections. Therefore mantra is the projection of the mind through sound vibrations.

The basic structure of the universe is the atom, and the basic structure of our bodies is the cell; each cell is made of billions of atoms and each atom is made of a positive nucleus and negative electrons rotating around it; because of this rotation, an electromagnetic field is generated similar to fields generated by an engine.

Every single atom is vibrating in a specific frequency, whether this atom is part of metal, water, cell, or anything else. So every thing in this universe is vibrating, this is a given scientific fact.

A small pebble thrown in a pond creates numerous ripples reaching quite far, in the same pond itself. Same way, the words, which we pronounce, creates vibrations and waves in our mind, which awaken subtle powers in us. Thus the Effects of whatever Words we speak, falls on our self, our society, and even on the universe.

Realizing this fact, that SOUND is the most powerful element; our ancient sages developed the science of Music or Sound (SHABDA) Therapy, called Bio-waves or “Mantra” and a collection of Mantras called a “STOTRA”, which being related to Ether (which is very subtle), becomes very powerful as the power of SUBTLE (SUKSHAMA) is greater than the GROSS (STHOOLA). When atoms are isolated, it creates great energy & become more powerful, although it is so small that it is impossible to see it, with our naked eyes, likewise when a person focuses on every single syllable and letter emanating from the Shabda Brahma (Mantra) or the nada (the vibration) it is said to have profound effects on the psyche as well as one’s physical self.

Mantra or Stotras are those scientifically made sound combinations that affect our subtle Nerves – “SHAT CHAKRAS” and “POWER CENTRES” directly in such a way, that it awakens our 'powers', which otherwise lie dormant. As a result these Nerves become active and the person chanting is blessed with different powers (SIDDHI).

In fact, (STOTRA SADHANA) is nothing else, but the Power of Sound. These Sanskrit Mantra letters contain both Emotions and Meanings. The permutation and combinations of these letters have the power to create wonders.

Sound being the base of the Mantra, makes it very powerful.

"When a Mantra is pronounced repeatedly, like a dynamo the Sound waves are transformed into electrical energy or vibrations & if coupled with deep emotions, becomes more powerful. These vibrations are in the shape of a Ring which rises up with great speed, through the medium of Ether, moving directly towards the presiding Deity of that Mantra. When it reaches its Deity, it combines with the power of that Deity before bouncing back along with the subtle but now manifold powers of that Deity back to re-enter the source of its origin which is the subtle body of the one chanting the Mantra. The Stronger the Faith, Will-power and Emotion attached with the Mantra, the Stronger will be the attraction of the powers of the Deity. It’s like a Dynamo effect, the more who keep repeating a Mantra continuously the more you get charged up with Divinity .This phenomenon is so subtle & so fast that the person chanting the Mantra does not even realize it as these sound waves or vibrations moving in the air in about 340m/sec have their own frequency while humans can hear only from 20 frequencies per second to 20000 frequencies per second & not outside of this range."

On the physically level the science of Sound works with the movement of the tongue in the mouth. The hard upper palate forms the roof of the mouth where there are 84 meridian points located. While pronouncing the Mantra, the movement of the tongue stimulates these meridian points which in turn stimulate the hypothalamus to secrete neurotransmission fluids. As these different chemical liquids are secreted to different parts of the brain, messages are transmitted throughout as well. Simultaneously, these Mantra sound vibrations are also received by the ear & are turned into electrical signals which move along the acoustic nerve towards the acoustic bark in the Brain, whose cells then correspond to these waves and move into the various parts of the brain especially the frontal part. All these parts work together corresponding to the signals and translating them to a language the human understands. And as, as our body is made up of at least 70 per cent water, our bodies become an excellent conductor of sound vibrations thus every cell in our body acts as a sound resonator. So finally, the brain analyses these signals and gives orders to the various parts of the body to correspond to these signals.

The signs of this charged Mantra, re-entering the subtle body of the person chanting it, are in the different types of Vibrations or Emotions that can move one to tears, lift his spirits up, bring back beautiful memories, make him deliriously happy, or rouse violent emotions, sensations of energy flowing from the head to the base or goose bumps too.

The mantra may be chanted out aloud, or repeated silently, or resonated in the mind (Japa) and should be recited from the base of the stomach which represents the seat of a person’s dormant power. There is a lot of hidden shakti here. It produces subtle vibrations in the fine nerves of the brain, thereby empowering the brain’s 108 centers and quelling their inactivity.

If Mantras are pronounced correctly, following the rules and regulations, given in the Scriptures it can undoubtedly cure many a diseases.

So, the Success of the Mantra lies in its correct pronunciation. Unless the pronunciation is correct, it does not have the desirable effects on our Nerves.

JAPA and DHYANA, are similar to NAADA (Sound) and BINDU SAADHANA (Concentration on a point), which can pierce the greater or the subtlest particle.

EXAMPLES -

The “Gayatri Mantra”

GAYATRI MANTRA when repeatedly chanted, creates ring shaped sound waves which rises up with great speed, through Ether and goes towards the Sun, and after touching the surface of the SUN, it returns back along with the subtle powers of the Sun, like Heat, Light, Electrical etc. Thus the Mantra combined with all these powers of the Sun re-enters the subtle body of the one chanting it. Who, therefore is regarded blessed by Gayatri Mata.

POWER OF MANTRA

Tansen the famous court-musician of Emperor Akbar, could make the clouds pour down by singing the Raga MEGH MALHAAR, and could lit the lamps by singing RAGA DEEPAK.

POWER OF SOUND VIBRATIONS

Two scientists by the name of GRAHAM and NEIL did a experiment in a crowded street, in Australia's Melbourne city. The experiment was done to show the 'POWERS OF SOUND'. The medium of the experiment was a Motor-Car. They wanted to move the car, according to their commands. The car followed their command when they said 'START' and again when they commanded 'GO', the car started moving and stopped when they said 'HALT'. People thought it to be a magic, which in reality, it was not. It was merely an experiment, which showed the 'Power of Sound'. But how did it happen?

Graham had a Transmitter in his hands; the function of the Transmitter was to convert the command into a fixed frequency of electrical power, and send it to the control unit, which was fitted in the dashboard of the car. Another device named 'CAR RADIO' was fitted in front of the Control-unit.

When the electro-magnetic frequencies transmitted by the Transmitter, dashed against 'CAR RADIO' the cars engine started and even began to move, and ultimately stopped. The source of all these happenings was the 'SOUND WAVES'.

The causes and effects of the 'MANTRAS' and 'STOTRAS' could not be analyzed till date, because they are based on Ultrasonic Sounds, which, we can neither see, nor hear.

But if these are pronounced with clarity and emotion, than it can do wonders.

In a Satsang, you Make your Mind to Dance
